Sneezing, Coughing, Itchy Eyes... Got Allergies? Just thinking of these dust mites
living in your pillow and mattress by the millions, eating your dead skin and hair
is enough to make you feel sick.
Did YOU Know...
- The EPA and its Science Advisory Board consistently ranks indoor air pollution among the
top 5 environmental risks to public health?- EPA statistics show levels of many airborne pollutants to be 100 times higher indoors than outdoors.
AND......... the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology reports that,
"50 percent of all illnesses are caused by or aggravated by polluted indoor air."

Household dust mite
- Protein related allergens are the key group of indoor bio-pollutants that act as triggers for asthma and other respitory ailments. These proteins, in addition to mold and fungi, include allergens form dust mites (Der p 1), cockroach (Bla d 1), dog dander (Can f 1) and cat saliva (Fel d 1).
- Institute of Medicine reports that, "Exposure to allergens produced by house dust mites - found in nearly every indoor environment - can lead to asthma in children who are predisposed to the disease.
- Dust mites are the No. 1 household allergen. They are arachnids, related to spiders, eight-legged creatures 0.3mm in length. They are found in virtually all homes, no matter how clean.
- The primary source of dust mite exposure is the bedroom, which privides the best conditions of warmth, humidity and food for their growth. They are present in mattresses, pillows, carpets, upholstered furniture, curtains and similar fabrics.
- The household dust mite survives by eating dead skin cells, which comprise up to 80% of household dust. They also live off of water vapor, which we provide for them - approximately one pint per person, per night - by perspiring and breathing.
- During the night, most people toss and turn up to 70 times. This expels mite feces pellets from bedding and pillows into the air. These allergens stay in the air for up to 2 hours! Once airborne, dried dust mite droppings are inhaled, causing allergic reactions in asthmatics.
- These allergens can cause wheezing, coughs, itchy eyes, sniffles, and in more serious cases, asthma, eczema and allergic rhinitis.
What is the Soloution for Allergy Sufferers?
Other than regularly cleaning your carpets and air ducts (see "Homeowner's Rolodex" on "Home" tab for air duct cleaning), the best thing you can do for your allergies is to have Cleancare clean your mattresses regularly.

Call Cleancare at 303-530-0646!
To effectively contol dust mite allergens, your mattresses need to be cleaned regularly (about every 6 months for allergy sufferers).

Our Anti-allergen cleaning steps include:- First, your mattress
should be vacuumed, ideally with a Cleancare truckmount so that we can vent the exhaust outside.
- Second, after vacuuming, we'll steam clean the top and sides of the
mattress. We don’t over-wet the fabric, as we know you'll need to use
the mattress that evening.
- Last, we apply a non-pesticide dust mite allergen-neutralizer on the mattress surface to control bio-pollutants between regular cleanings.
What about my pillows? Don't forget the pillows! An old pillow can contain up to 20% of its weight in dust mites, their fecal matter and dead body parts. Every time your head hits the pillow, the pressure acts as a billow, blowing the allergens all over the bedroom. Unfortunately, there is not a cost effective way to clean and treat bed pillows. Pillows should be replaced every 6 months!
After our anti-allergen mattress cleaning, you WILL breathe easier!!
