After Cleaning Instructions

Replacing furniture and sofa cushions, walking on the carpet, drying instructions...

1)  Plan  to go out and have a nice dinner on the town.

2)  Your carpet will feel dry anywhere from immediately after we leave to 2 hours later (stairs may take longer), depending on outside weather and your home’s ventilation and indoor temperature. While you can walk on the carpet right away, it’s best to avoid it.  Your carpet will dry faster if you don’t smash it down with foot traffic.  Try to leave the fibers in the upright position we left them until dry.

3)  Wear the free booties we left you if you must walk on the carpet while still damp.  For at least the next 2 hours, wash your pet’s feet and keep your pets and children from running in and out.  They love the clean carpet, but it is very susceptible to soiling until it is dry.

4)  Never walk on areas treated with Maxim Advanced  protectant without your free booties.  Maxim Advanced  is designed to get into all the nooks and crannies of your carpet and will do the same with any porous object it comes in contact with until it’s dry.  While wet it will stick to bare feet, pet’s feet, socks, slippers, moccasins, leather soled shoes or any other soft material. Anyone not wearing booties will track the Maxim Advanced off the carpet, minimizing its protecting ability.

5)  Do not remove the plastic tabs or blue Styrofoam blocks we leave under furnishings for at least 24 hours.  While the carpet feels dry and is usable much sooner than this, it’s still possible to have small pockets of moisture at the very base of the carpet which could cause permanent furniture stains.

6)  Do not replace small furnishings or chairs which were set off the carpet for 24 hours as well, for the same reason.

7)  Your home must remain at least seventy degrees in temperature and you must cycle the air from the outside, or it will dry slowly.  Wood heat adds moisture to the air, so while it’s better than no heat at all, it’s not as good as other heat sources for drying carpet.  If it’s cold outside, turn up the heat and open several windows about two inches.  If it’s a nice day, just open the windows all the way.  In Colorado, it makes no difference if it’s raining or snowing outside, these drying instructions work just the same.  If your home is above seventy degrees, the carpet will dry much faster.  If you let it get below sixty degrees, it will take a long time to dry, because the small amounts of moisture in the carpet will not evaporate below sixty degrees.

8)  Within 24 to 48 hours of cleaning, vacuum the high traffic areas. We use a dirt encapsulating polymer. This means that any remaining dirt not captured by our system will be crystalized, ready for your vacuum when dry.  A quick final vacuum will ensure that no sand is left to wiggle it’s way back down into your carpet and will leave it soft and fluffy.

9)  If you get a spot on your carpet, try using the free bottle of Avenge spot cleaner we left you.  Squirt a few drops onto the spot, let it sit for a minute and blot up with a clean rag.  Avenge will take out most spots, but if not, give us a call and ask what to do.

11)  The cushions on your cleaned sofa should stay in the upright position over-night.  While we use as little moisture as possible to clean your upholstery, if you lay the cushions flat before completely dry, the underside of cushions may not dry. You should also change cushion positions while they are drying, exposing all sides to fresh air.  Even with proper cushion rotation, it is normal for upholstery to take up to a full day to dry completely.

12)  I want your carpet and upholstery to be fresh, clean and soft for a long time.  Anything less is unacceptable.  If you cannot get a spot out that occurred within the first week after we cleaned, give us a call and we’ll fix it for free.  Likewise, if a spot comes back or if the carpet re-soils anywhere within a week, or if there is just something you feel we could have been done better, just give me or Lisa a call.
